CPI-M Central Committee Member and Manipur in-charge Gautam Das has urged the State Government to talk with all stake holders and resolve the issue of the ongoing economic blockade.
Speaking to media persons at the office of CPI-M Manipur State unit at Paona Bazar, Governor Road today, Gautam Das said that common people of the country have been suffering extreme misery following demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes by the BJP-led NDA Government.
He said that it would be prudent on the part of the Central Government to retain the old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes as legal tenders.
Talking about the economic blockade, he remarked that blocking National Highways was against humanity.
People of Manipur have been reeling under extreme hardship on account of the economic blockade.
Even if economic blockade was imposed in pursuit of certain demand, imposition of economic blockade for such a protracted period is against humanity.
He said that CPI-M and other Left parties would field common candidates in some selected Assembly segments of the State.
A meeting of CPI-M, Manipur State unit was held yesterday and the gathering condoled the demise of Cuban communist leader Fidel Castro.
CPI-M State secretary Sarat Salam remarked that people of the State have become accustomed to economic blockades as such protracted blockades have been imposed too frequently.
Congress party and BJP have been blaming each other for the economic blockade and they have been sowing seeds of communal conflicts with ulterior motives to garner electoral gains, Sarat further decried.
