Imphal, October 30 2025: Rashtrahit Sarvopari Sanga-than founder president Sohan Giri has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to include Manipur's indigenous Thang-Ta in the National Games.

He made this appeal while attending the 31st Sub-Junior and Senior National Thang-Ta Games at Madgaon, Goa.

Speaking at the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium, Sohan Giri said the National Games has many disciplines like Judo.

Karate, Taekwondo, Wushu etc of foreign origins.

However, the indigenous Thang-Ta has not been included in the National Games, he said.

The Thang-Ta as a sports discipline must be included in the National Games, he added, seeking the attention of the Prime Minister.

Thang-Ta Federation of India founder, Grandmaster Premkumar also made the same appeal and expressed disappointment that the Thang-Ta has not been given due recognition.

Thang-Ta has not been included as a discipline in the National Games, Khelo India and School Games, he said.

He urged the Government of India to promote the indigenous martial arts as a sport discipline and include it in all Indian games.
