Pettigrew College marks 60 glorious years of service in education

Pettigrew College, Ukhrul celebrated its Diamond Jubilee on Saturday, marking 60 years of dedicated service in the field of education.
The grand celebration was held at the College's multi purpose hall in Meizailung Ukhrul.
The event commenced with the hoisting of the college flag by Sirawung Ragui, followed by the unveiling of the Jubilee Monolith by the Hunphunwo Khayaiwo in the presence of ML As Khashim Vashum and Rannganing Muivah, Principal, staff, students and well-wishers of the institute.
Celebrated under the theme "From Road to Radiance", Principal of the college, Dr Ringkahao Vashum traced the illustrious journey of Pettigrew College from a private eco-educational institution to a government-recognized college affiliated with Manipur University.
Established in 1965, Pettigrew College is the only government college in Ukhrul district imparting higher education.
In his commemorative address, Dr Ringkahao expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the land donors, pioneers, and all those who had contributed to the growth and success of the college over the decades.
As a token of appreciation, the college felicitated them all including the former principals, lecturers, staff, land donors and well wishers who have played pivotal roles in shaping the institution's legacy.
During the event, P Rammung also released a history and a souvenir of Pettigrew college.
MLA Ramnganing Muivah in his greeting expressed the importance of human resource development.
He stated that the key to human resource creation is education, citing Singapore's example under Lee Kuan Yew's leadership as a model for educational commitment and development.
Echoing the sentiment, MLA Khashim Vashum urged students to persevere and excel in their academic pursuits, emphasizing that "education is the strongest foundation for a prosperous society.
Later, Stephen Hongray dehoist the Jubilee flag to marked the closing of 60th anniversary celebration of pettigrew college.
