Imphal, September 25 2024:
The Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation Manipur (RNSOM) has appealed to all sections of Tamenglong people, civil organisations, village chairman etc and affected landowners to cooperate with the Government and other relevant authorities to complete the ongoing construction project of Tamenglong-Mahur road at the earliest.
RNSOM, in a statement signed by its president Daichu Gangmei and general secretary Jeanthui Pamei, said that some sections of people are creating havoc and disturbing the National Highway project which will be connecting the remotest parts of Tamenglong with the rest of the State in the guise of unfair land compensation.
Further appealing to all sections of the society to cooperate with the Government in the implementation of the National Highway project, the Organisation added that some vested interested people trying to delay the project which will benefit the people of Tamenglong is completely irrational.
RNSOM also said that attempting to delay the project will be taken as an obstruction to the decade long dream and aspiration of the people of Tamenglong.
"This kind of act will not be tolerated," it added.
Stating that the National Highway project must continue without any disturbances from the landowners concerned or any other parties, RNSOM appealed to the departments concerned of the Centre and the State Government to look into the demand of the affected landowners and fairly compensate them.
The Organisation, meanwhile, thanked Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Water Resources Minister Awangbow Newmai, former Tamenglong DC Armstrong Pame, Tamenglong DC Dr L Angshim, SDO Tousem Paul Nungsha and also the villagers concerned who had devoted their time and energy for the timely completion of Tamenglong-Mahur road.
