Imphal, June 24 2025:
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has urged the Central Government to take up rehabilitation and resettlement measures for the people affected by the Manipur crisis.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, AAP North East in-charge Rajesh Sharma decried that the Central Government has not shown any intention or sincerity to bring an end to the protracted crisis even though it is more than two years old.
The crisis has displaced tens of thousands of people including women, children, elderly and sick.
Providing them ration and some basic necessities is not enough, he said.
Meanwhile, the common people's misery has been compounded by the unnatural spike in prices of all commodities which results from the Government's failure to free movement on highways, Rajesh Sharma said.
He also noted that a large number of farmers are being kept away from their farmlands.
Given all these facts and circumstances, the Central Government must take up rehabilitation and resettlement measures for all the displaced people at the earliest, he asserted.
AAP stands for the people of Manipur and the party leader Arvind Kejriwal raised a number of issues related to Manipur at the Centre, he said.
On the other hand, Bharatiya Janata Party is like Bharatiya Jaghra Party.
Violence erupts on communal or religious lines in every State where BJP is in power, said the AAP North East in-charge.
Hoping for peace and normalcy in Manipur would be a big folly as long as BJP remains in power, he said.
Rajesh Sharma said that AAP has been working hard to strengthen its base in Manipur and it is preparing to fight elections to urban local bodies, Panchayats, ADCs and the State Assembly successfully.
The crisis in Manipur has been going on since May 3, 2023 .
