The road from Lamshang Bazar to Koutruk via Phumlou will be constructed as a double lane road under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) programme, MLA Heikham Dingo has announced today.
The Sekmai AC MLA made this announcement at the inauguration of an RCC bridge at Senjam Khunou.
Speaking at the programme, Heikham Dingo said the project to construct the 2-lane road from Lamshang Bazar to Koutruk will be implemented by the Public Works Department.
The tender for the project will be floated soon for early construction work, he said.
Once the construction is finished, it will ease commute of not only the people of Lamshang and Sekmai but all, he added.
Dingo also stated that the RCC bridge inaugurated today will improve connectivity in the region.
Materials for construction of the Sports University at Koutruk will be moved across this bridge and it will speed up the pace of the construction, he added.
There are many roads in Sekmai Constituency that need improvement.
Steps are being taken up to reconstruct and improve them, Dingo said.
He said widening of the Sekmai to Khurkhul road is being carried out under the funding from the North Eastern Council (NEC), and a bridge along the road is being constructed.
Seeking cooperation from the public in implementing the various projects being taken up in the Constituency, Dingo also wished the people ahead of Ningol Chakkouba.
He wished for the festival to bring harmony, peace and prosperity.
PWD Executive Engineer of Imphal West, Laishram Max and AE RK Suraj, locals of Senjam Khunou and Senjam Chirang attended the inauguration programme.
