Civil Defence mock drill "Operation Abhyaas" conducted across State

As part of nationwide initiative to assess and strengthen disaster preparedness and response mechanism, District Administration across the State conducted Civil Defence mock drill - "Operation Abhyaas" today.
SENAPATI
The District Administration of Senapati conducted Civil Defence Mock Drill under "Operation Abhyaas today at Mini Secretariat Complex, Senapati.
The mock drill was started at 10:30 AM in the presence of Deputy Commissioner, Senapati Mamoni Doley, IAS, Superintendent of Police, Senapati Dharmendra Kumar, IPS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Senapati Rang David Kung, MCS, Chief Executive Officer/ADC, Senapati Adahrii Maheo, MCS, Project Director, DRDA P P Ronald, MCS, Sub- Divisional Officers, DLOs, and Security personnel commander of CRPF B/109 Bn, D/173 Bn and 16 F Company, Assam Rifles.
Today's mock drill activities featured air raid warning sirens, public address announcement via police vehicles, fire engine sirens and emergency response activation, blackout simulation, search and rescue operations, casualty evacuation from simulated damaged structures, temporary hospital set up for emergency medical response, evacuation of civilians to designated bunkers and Civil Defence training for civilians on safety measures during hostile attacks.
The exercises were carried out to evaluate and enhance the district's readiness in the event of hostile attack and ensure civil defence protocols are well understood and implemented effectively during air raid scenarios.
The mock drill witnessed an active participation of around 500 individuals from police personnel and security personnel of CRPF B/ 109 Bn, D/ 173 Bn and 16 F Company, Assam Rifles, Medical department, Manipur State Power Distribution Limited (MSPDCL), Sub- Divisional Officers, DLOs, and other volunteers from Indian Red Cross Society, Senapati, NSS of St Xavier College, Senapati, NCC of Mt.
Everest Collage, Senapati, NYK and TNK youths.
KAMJONG
Civil Defence mock drill "Operation Abhyaas" was also conducted at Kamjong Higher Secondary Scnool, Kamjong district headquarter in the presence of DC Kamjong, Rangnamei Rang Peter, SP Kamjong Ningsem Vashum, CO, 8 AR Sumit Acharya, and BSF Officer-in-Charge Sanjay Beniwl.
The drill simulated various emergency scenarios including air raid and sirens, breakout of huge fire, search and rescue operation, casualty evacuation, and setting up of temporary hospital and evacuation of civilians from endangered areas to bunkers/Demilitarised zones.
Around 250 students took part in the mock drill assisted by 14 volunteers.
DC Kamjong, Rangnamei Rang Peter while addressing at the event spoke on the objectives of the planned drill, to prepare and take precautions whenever such emergency arises.
He emphasised the need to stay alert at all times and observe the environment attentively.
He also ensured that during such time citizens' safety will be the main priority and certain necessary protocols will be implemented by various services.
JIRIBAM
The Civil Defence mock drill - "Operation Abhyaas" was also held at Jiribam Higher Secondary School Ground, Jiribam District headquarter today.
The drill was started at 2 pm in the presence of DC Jiribam, Krishna Kumar, IAS, Superintendent of Police, Jiribam, Shaikh Mohd Zaib Zakir, IPS, SDO Jiribam, Laishram Tarajeet Singh, MCS and other District Level Officers.
The drill simulated various emergency scenarios including air raid and sirens, breakout of huge fire, search and rescue operation, casualty evacuation, and setting up of temporary hospital and evacuation of civilians from endangered areas to bunkers/demilitarised zones.
The drill was organised under the supervision of SP Jiribam in coordination with CRPF, IRB, Fire Services and other relevant line Departments.
Around 120 students from NCC/NSS and 250 volunteers took part in the mock drill assisted by volunteers from NSS, Aaapda Mitras, Red Cross and public.
