Motbung is a Thadou village, claims TSA

Imphal, February 06 2026: Referring to a news items published on February 6 regarding a proposed visit of Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho to Motbung and interaction with the local people, particularly youth, the Thadou Students' Association (TSA) has clarified that Motbung is a Thadou village, not a Kuki one.

The programme for the closing ceremony of the In-tra-Motbung Village Sports Meet 2026 was already finalised by the Motbung Youth Club well before the formation of the current Government, with L Dikho invited as chief guest on February 7, 2026 (Saturday) at Motbung village, said a press release issued by TSA .

The TSA said that it firmly endorses the Government of Manipur's peace efforts, facilitated by L Dikho following the outbreak of violence in Manipur in 2023."We also extend our warm congratulations to Shri L Dikho on his appointment as Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur", it said.

Mislabelling Thadou as Kuki represents a grave error.

Thadou can never represent Kuki, nor can Kuki ever represent Thadou.

Dual identity can never exist; Motbung is a Thadou village, the TSA asserted.

Saying that nobody should disturb the event and all must accept the mandate of the newly installed popular Government as enshrined by the Constitution of India, the TSA has warmly welcomed Deputy Chief Minister L Dikho to the event and expressed full support for the Motbung Youth Club in organising this successful sporting initiative.
