Imphal, May 05 2025: In an operation carried out at Samuchep Lok Nala, near Ningthoukhong in Bishnupur district yesterday, Assam Rifles recovered arms and ammunition, said PIB Defence Wing.

The weapons recovered included two SLRs, two 9mm Pistols, one Single Barrel Rifle, two improvised mortars, grenades, ammunition and war like stores.

Further, multiple joint operations by Indian Army, Assam Rifles and Manipur police conducted in the hill and valley districts resulted in the apprehension of "17 cadres from the valley and hill based insurgent groups" and recovery of a pistol, mobile phones, two-wheelers etc.

The apprehended cadres and the recovered items have been handed over to Manipur police, said the PIB Defence Wing.
