Imphal, September 04 2026:
A police raid on September 1 found a salon centre at Mantripukhri area running spa activities "illegally", resulting in brief detention of two males and two females.
Appreciating the Heingang police for carrying out the raid, Lamlongei Mantripukhri Meira Paibi, in a statement, said that the salon was found providing spa service covertly merely days after an agreement was reached where the owner agreed to cease all spa activities and provide salon service only.
The Meira Paibi Lup carried out a raid on August 23 at five "Unisex Salon and Spa" centres in Mantri-pukhri area.
An agreement was later signed with the owners of the 5 salon and spa centres on August 28 agreeing to cease all spa activities in the future.
As per the agreement, the owners were to remove all partition walls inside the centres meant for spa service, and provide only salon services.
The owners also agreed to bear sole responsibility for consequences that may arise in case of violation of the agreement, said the Meira Paibi Lup in the statement.
During the raid on September 1 by the Heingang police, a centre was found running covertly.
While the centre was locked on the outside, two males and two females were found inside.
The four were detained.
They were given counselling and later released, said the Meira Paibi Lup.
