Adequate power for next 50 years: CM

Chief Minister O Ibobi has today announced that the State Government is working overtime to ensure that there is sufficient power supply in the State for the next 50 years.
The Chief Minister made this announcement while speaking at the concluding day of the State Open Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, 2016 organised by Thoubal District Table Tennis Association.
The tournament was held at the indoor stadium of the Association.
Towards this end the construction work of the 400 KV sub-station under the Ministry of DoNER at Thoubal Khunou is progressing smoothly, said the Chief Minister and added that plans are afoot to construct another 400 KV sub-station at Yurembam.
The Thoubal sub-station will be able to transmit power to Imphal East, Ukhrul, Thoubal and Chandel while the Yurembam sub-station will supply power to Imphal West, Senapati, Tamenglong, Bishnupur and Churachandpur, informed the Chief Minister.
On the other hand, the Chief Minister said that plans are afoot to construct a multipurpose indoor stadium at Thoubal Kshetri Leikai Haotabi under funding from the NEC.
The amount earmarked for the indoor stadium is Rs 14 crore, he added.
Stating that the State Government is leaving nothing to chance to encourage the sportspersons of the State, the Chief Minister said that it has been forwarding generous cash prizes and providing Government employment to many who have shone in the world of sports.
It is towards this end why mini stadia are being constructed across the different districts, he added.
Such efforts will also extend to the sub-divisions, added the Chief Minister.
Parliamentary Secretary K Meghachandra and founder president of the Association, H Gambhir attended the closing function as the president and guest of honour respectively.
