Langol firing: Accused remanded to judicial custody

Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West today rejected the bail plea of the two accused persons of Langol Type-2 market firing incident and remanded them to judicial custody till October 5 .
Two persons including one woman were injured when Ningthoujam Samarendra Singh (32) of Thoubal Charangpat Mamang Leikai and Yengkokpam Hemachandra (40) of Leimaram allegedly opened a few rounds of fire at Langol Type-II market on September 16 at around 8 pm.
A man identified as Maisnam Indrajit, who was injured in the incident, is still undergoing treatment at Shija Hospital.
After serving a police remand of five days, the two accused persons appeared before the Court in connection with the FIR number 194 (9) 2016 of Lamphel police station under Section 307/ 326/34/34 IPC and 27(1-B) A Act today.
Although the IO of the case pleaded for a judicial remand of the accused persons till October 5, the defence counsel pleaded the Court for his clients' release on bail.
The defence counsel told the Court that the accused persons were exercising their right to self defence.
The counsel also requested the Court to release his clients on bail as they had surrendered before the police with a gun.
The Court order mentioned that from the materials on record, the Court failed to find any offence under Section 27 A Act.
However, the Court has found ample materials to make out the offence under Section 326 IPC, which is sufficient for further investigation of the offence under Section 307 IPC, the order added.
As such, the Court remanded the two accused to judicial custody till October 5 and disposed the bail prayer.
