12 AR men hurt in clash with militants

Imphal, November 18 2014:
At least 12 Assam Rifles personnel have been wounded in an encounter with a group of UG cadres at Kambiron, Tamenglong district under Nungba police station this morning.
Sources informed that one suspected UG cadre was apprehended in the course of a search operation by troops of 13 AR early this morning.
On the way back to their camp, the militants targeted them by triggering a bomb blast which was followed by a volley of fire.
Another source informed that cadres of ZUF and NSCN-IM fought a pitched gun battle near Kambiron village this morning.
However, there is no report of any casualty on either side.
As troops of 13 AR rushed in to the spot, they were attacked by one party suspected to be NSCN-IM cadres.
The gun battle left twelve AR personnel wounded.
Out of them, six were evacuated to Leimakhong military hospital in a helicopter.
The six personnel are identified as Subedar MS Negi, Rifleman Amandeep Singh, Riflemen Ramesh Nuniya, Rifleman PG Bulgam, Rifleman Babu Masharay and Rifleman Shyamlal.
The six others have also been brought to Imphal by road, added the source even though details are awaited.
On the other hand, one hand grenade exploded near a transit camp of Assam Rifles at Minuthong.
The grenade exploded inside a pile of garbage and waste material just a few metres away from the eastern gate of the transit camp at around 4.50 pm.
No one was hurt in the explosion.
On searching the blast site, another (unexploded) hand grenade was found.
Meanwhile, troops of 9 Assam Rifles detected an IED weighing around 2 Kgs near Kondong Lairembi complex of Moreh at around 7 pm yesterday.
