Light of the World members interact with disabled people

Three members of Light for the World, a European confederation of National development NGOs had an interaction programme here today at Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization office.
The interaction programme was hosted by All Disabled Union, Sadar Hills (ADUSH) in collaboration with Manipur North Economic Development Association (MANEDA).
More than 60 disabled persons within Sadar Hills attended the programme which was also attended by various CSO leaders including Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization, Senapati Disabled People's Association Manipur (SDPAM) and special educators from SSA.
Many disabled persons highlighted their problems and hardships to the members of Light for the World in the programme.

While encouraging the disabled people, the members of Austria based Light for the World said that they (disabled persons) have legitimate rights to highlight their problems and hardships to the authority concerned.
They also said that they are very much moved by the conditions of the persons with disabilities in the district.
The three members also emphasized the need to strengthen the mobilization and formation of persons with disabilities' union.
In the meantime, Peter Rangnamei, President of MANEDA pointed out that fund for disabled persons welfare was returned to the Centre unutilised.
Light for the World is dedicated to ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities in developing countries, without discrimination of gender, ethnicity, social group or religion and it is now operating in 15 countries in the world.
Raising awareness on the situation of persons with disabilities in their family and environment which is an important basis for social inclusion and for the autonomy of persons with disabilities is one of the main objectives of Light for the World.
