Imphal, February 11 2015:
State unit BJP president Th Chaoba has urged public of Sora not to give their consent for the construction of a Sports University at Yaithibi Loukon as the BJP Government at the Centre had opposed construction of a Sports University at the particular place against the will of the people.
Chaoba was addressing the public during the inaugural programme of mass enrolment drive organised by BJP Kakching Mandal today at Sora.
The BJP leader said that the Centre had earlier directed the State Govt to construct the Sports University at a non-controversial site.
He questioned the intention of the CM who is hellbent on constructing the varsity at the highly controversial site.
Th Chaoba also said that he would apprise Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh about the matter during his two-day visit to the State which is slated to begin from Feb 13 .
Pointing out that Congress was completely decimated in Delhi Assembly, Chaoba said there would not be even a person willing to contest coming Assembly elections of some States on Congress ticket.
Although AAP emerged victorious in the Delhi election, the BJP will still have a stake in the Govt since Delhi is not a full-fledged State.
He also said that the AAP would not make any impact in Manipur.
Retired IAS officer, AR Khan, Enrolment In-charge Imphal East BJP said that the political party which is committed to the welfare of minority communities is the BJP.
The party will stiffly oppose acquisition of agriculture land in the name of development.
The Congress party has utilised the minority communities as its vote bank by intimidating them for a long period.
This practice cannot be carried on any longer as many intellectuals among the minority communities have joined politics, AR Khan said.
BJP State unit secretary, M Rameshwar said that the conditions of BPL families of Sora Muslim minority community continue to remain stagnant.
People of the area do not get proper drinking water supply or proper school.
Training his guns on Kakching MLA, Rameshwar accused the MLA of paying more attention to his individual interest than addressing the needs of the public.
