Imphal, February 11 2015:
Chief Minister or Deputy Collector of Ukhrul should provide a written assurance stating that mosque in Ukhrul will not be demolished for the construction of Session's Court, demanded various organisations on Tuesday.
All Manipur Development Organization (AMDO); All Manipur Muslim Students Organisation (AMMSO) and All Manipur Muslim Association Coordination (AMMAC) said that they are not against the construction of Session Court, which is for the development of Manipur.
However the mosque was constructed with permission from Village Chief, District Collector and Sub-divisional Officer and serves as a place of worship for Muslims working as government servants added the organisations.
Presidents and secretaries of the organisations added Chief Minister was made aware of the facts and he has given us as an oral assurance on maintaining the sanctity of the mosque, yet to remove the fear of Muslims the organisations demands a written document.
If the mosque is demolished, Muslims of Manipur will initiate various agitations in association with Mother's (Imas) organisations against the government action warned the organisations.
