Student stabs teacher five times

In a shocking incident, the acting Principal of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Chandel is battling for his life at Shija Hospital after he was stabbed by a Class-XII student five times as he handed over the student to his parents for consuming liquor yesterday.
The teacher, who is undergoing treatment at the ICU ward of Shija hospital, has been identified as KC Alex Pamei (47) s/o Gangdenang of Jiribam.
According to the teachers of the Vidyalaya, the Principal of the school is currently out of station to attend a seminar and Alex is serving as the acting Principal.
On February 9 night, the student was caught by the teachers of the Vidyalaya in an inebriated condition from the students' dormitory.
They said that he failed to turn up for roll call that night.

Later in the night, some teachers went along with the student to his house at Pallel and handed him over to his parents.
However, at around 2.30 pm yesterday, the student emerged at the school campus suddenly and went towards the acting Principal, who was standing near his quarters.
Although, the teachers thought that he might have come there to tender an apology to the acting Principal, the student took out a knife from his belt and suddenly stabbed Alex two times on his abdomen.
After the teacher fell down on the ground, the student again stabbed the teacher three times on his back and fled the school campus.
Although, some teachers chased him, the student managed to escape from the school campus.
Alex was immediately rushed to nearby Jeevan hospital.
However, he was referred to Shija Hospital as his condition deteriorated due to excessive bleeding.
It is said that the teacher suffered injuries on both his lungs.
Chandel police have taken up a case against the absconding student and recovered the knife which was used in the crime.
After a thorough search of the school campus, police have also recovered another knife wrapped in a cloth from the multipurpose hall of the school.
Meanwhile, students and staff of the Vidyalaya have strongly condemned the incident.
In a statement, they also wished the injured acting Principal a speedy recovery.
