Imphal, February 11 2015:
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will be in Imphal on Friday on a two-day visit to review law and other situation in the State.
He will be accompanied by the Union MoS Home Kiren Rijiju during the sojourn.
According to a source from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Home Minister will hold a series of talks with Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, Chief Secretary PC Lawnkunga, DGP Shahid Ahmed and senior officials of paramilitary and State administration to assess the deterioration in the law and order situation in the state.
The ministers will leave New Delhi on board a special BSF aircraft and touch down at Imphal International Airport at noon.
From there, the minister will head directly for Moreh in Chandel District on an IAF chopper, where he will inspect the ongoing construction of the Immigration Centre and Integrated Check Post which is being set up ahead of the commencement of Imphal-Mandalay Bus Service and fostering Indo-Myanmar border trade.
The Union minister will also meet officials of 9-A Assam Rifles and important leaders of the District at the border town.
Thereafter, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will fly back to the airport on the same chopper and travel on road to Raj Bhavan.
A meeting with District magistrates and superintendents of police will be convened at the Chief Minister's Secretariat, Imphal.
Later in the evening, the Home minister will hold conference with the state Chief Secretary, DGP and senior security officials on the same subject.
The Home minister is scheduled to meet Chief Minister O Ibobi for half an hour, at the CM Secretariat too, and depart for Raj Bhavan afterwards.
There, Rajnath will meet leaders of political parties based in Manipur.
The Home Minister will depart for Agartala at 9 am the next morning.
