34th State Junior Thang-Ta Championship concludes, hosts MNTT emerge champions

Imphal, September 29 2025: The 34th edition of the State Junior Thang-Ta Championship 2025 organised by the Meitei Nongsha Thang-Ta (MNTT), Heirok under the auspices of the Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association, Manipur at Ikop Ningthou Lai Haraobung, Heirok Part-II, came to a close today.

Hosts MNTT emerged champions of the championship with a haul of 8 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze as Luwang Thang-Ta Academy, Khurai Sajor Leikai amassed 3 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medals to finish runners up.

Final day highlight

Phunaba Ama

Wangthoiba Yumnam of MMAA, Moirangkampu beat M Nelson of PISS, Lamding to seal the gold medal in the junior boys' -44 kg Phunaba Ama competition.

Jhohen Huirem of MNTT, Heirok Meanwhile defeated L Ningtamba of PISS for the -48 kg category title.

M Bablu of IMMAA, Brahmapur Chungkham Leikai on the other hand beat L Malemnganba of NKSFI, Tentha for the -52 kg category title.

K Bikash of IKTTCA, Moidangpok in the meantime sealed the -56 kg category gold beating Thomas Thokchom of Ngaikhong Khunou Thang-Ta as Ch Jenan of TTM, Yumnam Huidrom beat K Yaiphaba of LTA, Khurai Sajor Leikai for the -60 kg category gold.

Ch Shrinivash of PAHULASI, Mayaikoibi (-65 kg), L Yohenba of LTA (-70 kg) and Rich Athokpam of MNTT, Heirok (-75 kg) also sealed gold medals in their respective categories.

Phunaba Anishuba

The day also saw Athoiba Thoudam of PTTSS, Sagolband beat Sh Sanjan of IMMAA for the -65 kg category Phunaba Anishuba gold medal.

Kh Tompok of MNTT in the meantime beat N Nungshiba of UHLA, Samurou for the -70 kg category gold Th Mangai of Ngaikhong Khunou Thang-Ta, and L Thouna of UTT A, Wangoo won the -75 kg and +80 kg category titles respectively.

L Pushpa of PISS (-40 kg), Kh Linthoi of MNTT (-44 kg), K Nicol of TTCA (-48 kg), Th Lembisana of IKTCCA (-52 kg), Maisnam Bembem LKTTS (-56 kg) and Y Sangita of TTM (-65 kg) meanwhile sealed gold medals in junior girls Phunaba Anishuba competition.

Thang-Haiba and Thanglon

Yumnam Thoiba of MMAA and Velentina Naoroibam of MNTT sealed Thang-Haiba gold medal for boys and girls as S Suraj of MNTT and Th Linda (CRTI) bagged Thanglon gold medals.
