Imphal, October 28 2025: State police arrested five individuals and recovered contraband items including heroin, ganja and cigarettes worth lakhs in three separate operations yesterday.

At Basikhong bridge, the police arrested two drug traffickers, Md Ashif Ali (18) of Kyamgei Muslim Awang Leikai and Md Washim Khan (22) of Kyamgei Muslim Takhok Makha.

From their possession, the police recovered heroin weighing 36 grams, said the Manipur Police Control Room.

In another operation yesterday, State police arrested three individuals for possession of contraband Ganja from T Khullen, Senapati district.

The three arrested have been identified as Md Shoaib Alam (22) of KR Lane Golapati, Sunir Phundreimayum (21) of Lilong Haoreibi Mayai Leikai, and Kh Rafique (22) of Yaripok Bamon Leikai.

From their possession, the police recovered Ganja weighing around 9 kilograms.

In yet another operation, security forces recovered 29 cartons containing 14,440 packets of WIN cigarettes from the forest area of Loisi under Tengnoupal police station.

The estimated value of the cigarettes is Rs 8,66,400, said the Manipur Police Control Room.
