Many decry abduction of truck driver

Jiribam, May 28 2025:
Unidentified miscreants abducted a driver of a loaded truck travelling from Jiribam to Imphal near Kaiphundai Khun in Tamenglong yesterday.
The incident sparked tension in Kaiphundai Khun, prompting a protest march by various groups, including Rongmei Naga Council Manipur, Rongmei Naga Luh Phuam, Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation, Rongmei Naga Students' Union Manipur - Goinanglong Luangrian, VACC members, village chairmen, youth clubs, and Church leaders and others.
The protesters carried placards demanding action, with slogans like 'Stop Kidnapping', 'We Want Peace', and 'Release the Kidnapped Person'" .
They expressed concern that the incident could disrupt peace in the village and urged for the safe release of the abducted driver.
The Kaiphundai Village Authority, Kaiphundai Luh Phwam, Kaiphundai Youth Club & Students Union have also condemned the abduction of the truck driver.
In a statement, they claimed that the driver was abducted while transporting essential commodities from Jiribam to Imphal, despite being escorted by CRPF personnel.
They urged the law enforcement authorities to apprehend the perpetrators, bring them to justice, and ensure the safe return of the driver.
