Not a constituent of KIM, says TIM

Imphal, January 28 2026: Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) is not a constituent or part of Kuki Inpi Manipur and the same was reflected in the joint press statement issued by the UNC and KIM on January 27, 2026 .

A press release issued by TIM asserted that KIM does not include TIM and TIM is not a member at any level of KIM's organisational structure.

Nonetheless, TIM has appreciated the spirit of peace and dialogue expressed in the joint statement (issued by UNC and KIM) .

The Thadou people are a distinct community but not Kuki, and are not part of ongoing ethnic tensions with any community.

Any portrayal of Thadou as Kuki or otherwise misrepresents TIM's position and is against the aspirations of the Thadou people, it said.

Rejecting violence in all forms including armed mobilization, intimidation, vandalism, arson and road blockades that disrupt civilian life and freedom of movement, TIM said that its primary concern is the protection of civilian life, dignity and safe movement.

"Thadou Inpi Manipur remains open to constructive, respectful dialogue on peace and civilian welfare, provided it respects accurate representation, mutual consent and the distinct identity of the Thadou people", it added.
