Imphal, August 27 2025: RK Memcha, Judge Fast Track Special Court Number 1 has convicted a 58-year-old stepfather and 42-year-old biological mother of a minor under POCSO Act.

The case dates back to 2019 .

A complaint filed with the police then had stated that the minor girl was sexually assaulted by her stepfather and the biological mother had knowledge about the entire incident.

The police had arrested three accused persons, the stepfather, the mother and a close friend of the parents.

The Court, meanwhile, convicted the stepfather under Section 10 of POCSO Act "for committing aggravated sexual assault of the minor victim" and the biological mother under Section 21 of POCSO Act "for failure to report or report case" .

The Court acquitted the third accused as prosecution failed to prove charges levelled against him beyond reasonable doubts.

The Court has fixed August 29 for sentence hearing to announce the quantum of punishment against the convicts.
