Imphal, May 23 2026:
A public protest at Langol Leima Khullen Leikai, organised under the aegis of five civil bodies, called on villages in every part of Manipur to unite and organise protest demonstrations urging the Government to bring about a lasting solution to the current crises and restore complete normalcy.
Chingmi Tammi Nupi Yaipha Thourang Lup hosted the protest demonstration, organised under the aegis of All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO), Centre for Organisation Research and Education (COHR), Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur (PLMPAM), All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) and Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) .

During the sit-in, protesters denounced the Government and Central security forces' failure to curb violence and terrorist activities and protect the lives and properties of citizens.
The protesters urged the Government to bring about lasting peace and secure the release of civilians taken hostage from Leilon Vaiphei village on March 13 .
In a statement issued after the protest demonstration, the five civil bodies said when people have been attacked, killed, and abducted in close proximity to their stations, Central security forces have failed to intervene and respond in time.
The external aggression by Myanmar based Kuki militants recently which resulted in the destruction of houses and civilian properties in Kamjong border villages further highlights the inept failure of the Central security forces.
They have failed to guard the border against external threats and protect the lives and properties of the citizens, said the five CSOs.
The Central security forces' seemingly intentional inaction against terrorist activities and attacks has revealed that "they want the violent conflict to not end," said the organisations.
To bring about peace and restore normalcy, the "proxy war" that has been waged against indigenous people and genuine citizens of the State must stop.
The Central security forces who have failed to protect people must leave Manipur, the civil bodies said.
Even after 3 years of the conflict, the Government has utterly failed to bring about a solution, and this reflects a complete failure in its governance.
When governance breaks down, the people must take it upon themselves to protect the land and themselves, said the civil bodies.
The five CSOs urged villages across Manipur to join hands and organise sit-in protest demonstrations demanding the Government to act swiftly and bring complete normalcy.
