Senapati hosts awareness programme on food hygiene

Senapati, August 22 2025:
The Food Safety Administration, Senapati in collaboration with the ADC and ZEO Senapati, organised an awareness program on Food Fortification, Good Manufacturing Practices/Good Hygiene Practices/Food Poisoning along with a spot licensing and registration camp for mid-day meal of school headmasters, headmistresses, and cooks at DRDA Hall.
Addressing the gathering, L Johnny, Designated Officer, Food Safety Administration, Senapati, highlighted the importance of fortified food, explaining that it is enriched with essential vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Iron.
Iodine and Folic Acid.
He urged the participants to opt for fortified food products in all staple foods including rice, wheat flour, edible oil, common salt and milk which are widely available and common among Indians.
The officer further urged all mid-day meal schools to register under FSSAI and stressed that fortified food is necessary for children's healthy growth.
Responding to rumours on social media about "plastic rice" and "plastic eggs" or "plastic Kurkure", he clarified that such claims were false, assuring that fortified food simply contains added minerals and vitamins.
He further informed that a surprise visit to all mid-day meal schools will be taken up to ensure food safety.
The next session was conducted by Sazo Likhrona, Food Safety Officer, Senapati, followed by on spot licensing for mid-day meal schools.
Altogether around 70 headmasters, headmistresses, and cooks from different schools under ZEO and ADC Senapati participated in the programme.
