3 'suspects' held, 6 vehicles seized

Thoubal, February 22 2025: Thoubal district police arrested three suspected motor lifters and seized 6 suspected stolen vehicles today.

The arrested individuals and the suspected stolen vehicles including one car and five 2-wheelers were produced before the media at the office of the Superintendent of Police.

The vehicles included one Hyundai i20 car, one Activa, one Honda Dio, one KTM bike, one NS Pulsar and Royal Enfield.

Two of the three arrested have been identified as Pussam Azamaluddin (28) of Lilong Atoukhong and Makakmayum Nawaz Khan (23) of Lilong Awang Leikai.

For further investigation, the five 2-wheelers have and the arrested individuals have been handed over to Lilong police station.

The Hyundai car has been handed over to Yairipok police station.

Briefing media persons, SP Dr S Ibomcha said the three persons including a minor were arrested while investigating multiple vehicle theft cases.

The Hyundai car was recovered from Yairipok Singa while a Royal Enfield Bullet was recovered from Lilong.

The riders fled leaving behind the vehicles, said the SP .

Further, from Lilong, police arrested three persons including a minor and seized three 2-wheeler vehicles suspected to have been stolen, added the SP.

"The three aren't able to produce the necessary documents of the vehicles they were riding.

The vehicles are suspected to have been stolen," said the SP .

Police are conducting investigations, and soon persons who fled leaving behind vehicles will be arrested, he added.

"Stolen vehicles are often sold cheap.

People shouldn't buy any vehicles without proper documents and if it is suspected that the vehicles may have been stolen.

Buyers of stolen vehicles or things may face the same punishment as the thieves," said the SP .
