288 bottles of Phensegrip seized

Imphal, August 19 2025:
After 288 bottles (100 ml) of Phensegrip, a Triprolidine Hydrochloride & Codeine Phosphate syrup were seized, two persons have been remanded to police custody till August 22 .
The accused persons identified as Laishram Debananda Singh (54) s/o (L) L Rajmani Singh and Kshetrimayum Naoba Singh (34) s/o Rajen Singh, both from Kwakeithel Ningthemkol were produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West today by a team of Singjamei police station along with a prayer for police custody remand.
APP of the State submitted that a combined team of Singjamei police and Imphal West commando was frisking and checking commuters at Kwakeithel Lamdong area near Children's Ideal High School along Tiddim Road.
In the meantime, Kshetrimayum Naoba was seen coming in a suspicious manner in an e-rickshaw carrying a white sack.
The vehicle was stopped for checking.
Naoba was asked to open a small portion of the sack for checking and Phensegrip bottles were found inside the sack.
On opening the sack fully in presence of Executive Magistrate, Imphal West and a mobile forensic team, 288 bottles of Phensegrip packed in two cartons were found inside the sack.
On preliminary enquiry, Kshetrimayum Naoba disclosed that he brought the white plastic sack from ISBT, Khuman Lampak for delivering it to one pharmacy situated at Kwakeithel Lamdong near Children's Ideal High School.
He was then taken to Singjamei police station for further necessary action and he further disclosed that the seized contraband items belong to one Laishram Debananda.
Subsequently, Laishram Debananda was also arrested.
Saying that the investigation of the case is now in its initial stage, the APP prayed the Court to remand the two accused in police custody.
The Court, after hearing the submission of the APP and on perusal of the case record, remanded the two accused in police custody till August 22 .
