Fourteen from State honoured at 17th Asian Dalit Sahitya Conference

Imphal, August 17 2025: Fourteen eminent personalities from Manipur were honoured at the 17th Asian Dalit Sahitya Conference recently held at Hongkong.

According to a statement issued by the Dalit Sahitya Academy Manipur, the conference held at the New Day & Night Hostel, Hongkong was graced by Hongkong University Research Scholar, Steve Chen as chief guest; Dalit Sahitya Academy, National Secretary Yumnam Mahendrakumar as president; and AIR Imphal, Retd Director Dilip Mayengbam and Haobam Chitra Devi, Retd Assistant Director, Art and Culture as guests of honour.

During the conference, Dr Uma Mayengbam delivered the keynote address, while Dr Laishram Kamala Devi and Dr Sarda Meinam served as resource persons.

The recipients of the international awards from Manipur included Haobam Chitra Devi of Thangal Bazar; Dr Laishram Kamala Devi of Naoremthong; Dr Sarda Meinam of Uripok; Lairikyengbam Samarendra of Jiribam; Thokchom Pramod of Heirok; Ngangbam Probitro of Khurai; Ngangbam Inaocha of Koirengei; Shamurailatpam Kunjabihari of Yairipok; Dr Khoisnam Tokiyo of Pishumthong; Lairikyengbam Taniya of Sagolband; Lairikyengbam Bijeta of Sagolband; Ahongshangbam Surendrakumar Singh of Borobekra; Dr Uma Mayengbam of Sagolband; and Talen K H of Naoremthong.
