Imphal, May 16 2025:
The All Manipur VDF Employees' Welfare Association (AMVDFWA) has announced that they will sustain their gun down protest until their long pending demands are met.
The VDF personnel have been on a gun-down, pendown strike since yesterday, seeking extension of service period and pay hike.
Speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club today, AMVDFEWA president Sagolsem Sanjit said that their demands include increasing the honorarium to at least Rs 30,000 per month, implementing Section 18 of the Police Act 1861, and regularizing their service.
He emphasized that the current salary is insufficient given the work VDF personnel do.
Saying that they have submitted their demands to the Governor, he added that the Governor has agreed to extend the VDF personnel's service period according to what they have heard, but no official notice has been issued yet.
Sanjit added that they have not received any information regarding the implementation of their other demands.
Appealing to the Governor to fulfil their demands given the hardship being faced by the VDF personnel, he added that they will continue their protest until their demands are met.
