CSOs condole demise of Ch Vikram

Imphal, September 12 2026: Several organisations viz 14 CSOs, Kangleipak; Kabui Union Manipur; All Manipur Muslim Organisations Co-ordinating Committee; Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation Manipur; Meetei (Meitei) Tribe Union; Meitei Leepun, Kom Union Manipur; Mao Union Imphal; Indigenous People's Forum Manipur (IPFM); Manipur Naga Youth Organisation (MNYO); Thadou Inpi Manipur and Manipur Ima IDP have condoled the demise of celebrated artist Chongtham Vikram.

In a joint statement, these Organisations said they take the merciless killing of Vikram by a group of people at Kilokari in New Delhi very seriously.

Saying that people from mainland India have long looked down upon people from the North East, it added that Vikram's killing was not an isolated incident.

The Organisations further claimed that the Government of India has not been taking such incidents seriously.

Condemning Vikram's killing, it urged the State Government to mount pressure on the Centre to address the alleged harassment faced by Manipuris living outside the region.
