Raj Medicity, a premier healthcare institution in Manipur, observed International Nurses Day 2025 today under the global theme, "Our Nurses, Our Future - The Economic Power of Care" .
The celebration honored the dedication, compassion, and pivotal role of nurses in healthcare and their profound impact on strengthening both health systems and the economy.
As per a release issued by Raj Medicity, the event commenced with a solemn lamp lighting ceremony and floral tribute to Florence Nightingale, the founder of modem nursing, symbolizing the light of care and service nurses bring into the lives of countless patients.
Delivering the keynote address, Haobijam Rajen Singh emphasized the indispensable role of nurses in shaping resilient health systems.
"Our nurses are not only the backbone of patient care but also vital contributors to public health and economic development.
Investing in nursing is investing in the future of healthcare", he added.
Dr Ng Narendra highlighted the value of ongoing training and professional growth for nurses, ensuring high standards of care and patient satisfaction.
Dr A Ibotombi Sharma praised the tireless service of nursing staff, especially during challenging times such as pandemics and emergencies.
RIMS
International Nurses Day 2025 was also observed today at the Jubilee Hall of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, organised by the RIMS Nurses Association.
The function was graced by dignitaries, including Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of RIMS, Imphal; Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, Imphal; RK Mecolt Singh, Deputy Director (Administration), RIMS, Imphal; Sairem Sarat Singh, Chief Accounts Officer, RIMS, Imphal; and Ningombam Ibemhal, Chief Nursing Officer (i/c), RIMS, Imphal.
According to a release issued by RIMS, the program commenced with the lighting of the inaugural lamp and floral tribute to Florence Nightingale, honoring her enduring legacy.
Speaking at the event, Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma praised nurses as the backbone of healthcare and expressed gratitude for their tireless service.
He emphasized that this year's theme "Our Nurses, Our Future", reflects their critical role as caregivers, educators, and leaders.
He also highlighted the dedication of RIMS nurses during crises like COVID-19 and in rural outreach programs, and called for stronger policies to support nursing education, fair compensation, and career advancement.
Attended by nursing professionals, faculty, students, and dignitaries from across the institute, the celebration featured cultural performances and a tribute to exemplary nursing service.
