Imphal, August 11 2025: No road is being constructed this financial year in Manipur under the Ministry of DoNER and there is no any such provision.

There is also no road named German Road or Tiger Road in the records of State PWD and PMGSY .

Well placed sources said that the Ministry of DoNER has been funding several development projects in the North Eastern States under two schemes viz; North East States Infrastructure Development Scheme (Roads) and North East States Infrastructure Development Scheme (Other than Road Infrastructure) .

Through the Ministry of DoNER, the Government of India allocates funds for development road infrastructure and other development projects on a yearly basis.

Road infrastructure development projects were taken up in Manipur too under the Ministry of DoNER's North East States Infrastructure Development Scheme (Roads).

No road named German/Tiger Road under PWD, PMGSY

Funds allocated to Manipur under the same scheme for the current financial year have been utilised completely, said the sources.

As such, there is no scope for construction of roads and other road infrastructure in Manipur under Ministry of DoNER's funding this financial year, said the sources.

For construction or development of any road infrastructure under the Ministry of DoNER, a project proposal is first sent to the Ministry through the State Government's Planning Department and the project is implemented after it is approved by the Ministry.

When a third party writes a letter to the Ministry for development of a road infrastructure or other projects, it is natural for the Ministry of DoNER to refer the letter to the State Government but it does not mean the project sought by the third party has been approved, according to the sources.

If a particular project or road must be constructed, it requires a recommendation from the State Government, said the sources.

The sources asserted that there is no road named German Road or Tiger Road in the records of State PWD and PMGSY.

Some parties might have written to the Ministry of DoNER for construction of German or Tiger Road but Manipur is not entitled to any more funds from the Ministry this financial year, the sources added.
