Imphal, September 10 2026: Busting a human trafficking racket, police arrested four individuals and rescued a young girl in the early hours today.

The Duty Magistrate Imphal East has remanded the four arrested to police custody for 10 days till September 19 .

Sources said the police received information about the presence of a human trafficking racket yesterday at around 10.30 pm .

A combined team of Imphal East Commandos, women police and officials of the Social Welfare Department led by its Director then immediately rushed to Keibi Kumuda Leikai and conducted a search at a house.

Trafficking racket busted, girl rescued

The search resulted in the rescue of an 18-year-old girl and arrest of three individuals including a mother and daughter duo at around 1.30 am today.

While the rescued girl was brought to One Stop Centre Porompat, interrogation of the three alleged traffickers led to the arrest of a fourth member.

Sources said the arrested traffickers were planning to take two young girls, including the minor rescued, to Delhi and force them as sex workers.

Further investigation is on, said the police.
