Imphal, May 10 2025:
The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal has been urged to allow entry of medical representatives inside the hospital campus and OPD premises.
This appeal has been made by the Centre of Medical & Sales Representatives Union (CRU) Imphal District and Medical & Sales Representatives' Association of Manipur (MSRAM), after RIMS reportedly banned entry of medical representatives inside the hospital campus.
CRU Imphal District and MSRAM held a meeting on the issue on May 8, and the bodies have resolved to urge the RIMS authority to lift the ban on medical representatives at the earliest, said the two medical representatives' bodies in a statement.
The medical representatives may be allowed entry at a given window between 7 am and 3 pm .
In case the ban continues, CRU and MSRAM may stop supplying ethical brand [medicines] to RIMS, they said.
The hospital's ban, the bodies said, violates the Indian Parliament Act, 1976.Denied access to the hospital campus, the medical representatives are unable to give medical awareness, update knowledge on products to medical professionals, they added.
CRU and MSRAM also expressed concern regarding the ongoing confrontation between students and RIMS authority.
The bodies appealed to the RIMS authority to resolve the issues amicably in the interest of the medical students.
