Ningol Chakkouba celebrated with fervour

Ningol Chakkouba celebration was in full swing at Ghari Awang Leikai Community Hall in Imphal today, marking ajoyous occasion of brother-sister bonding and the "Hinminashi Eikhoi" function.
Traditionally observed on the second day of the Manipuri lunar month of Hiyangei, the festival highlights the importance of women in Manipuri society and fosters familial ties, making it a cherished occasion for many in the region.
Today's event, organised by the Evergreen Star Singer Group, saw a special gathering of brothers and sisters, strengthening familial ties and traditions.
Notable attendees included Chingakham Sanajaoba, secretary KVIB Imphal; Asem Bhakta, president, All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU); Ksh Brikramajitya, Assistant Registrar (Cooperative); Ph Parma Mangancha, president, GYC; and Ph Bijoy, president, Evergreen Star Singer Group.
The highlight of the event was the announcement by Ph Bijoy that the group is changing its name to Change Evergreen Star Singer, marking a new chapter with their own band and equipment.
The milestone achievement is a testament to their hard work and dedication to promoting music and cultural heritage.
The evening saw performances by various nonprofessional singers, showcasing their talents and entertaining the audience.
Apart from Meitei women, the event saw women from different communities such as Kabui, Kom and Meitei Pangal coming together to share a meal and being presented with simple gifts.
Moreover, the Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillol Apunba Lup (MEELAL) also hosted a Ningol Chakkouba celebration at its head office in Imphal today.
It was attended by advisors of MEELAL, leaders of Ema Lups and women members of MEELAL from different districts.
The event was marked by the presentation of simple gifts to the 'Ningols' and a joyous meal, cherishing the emotional occasion that symbolizes resilience, affection, and hope amid hardship.
