Speeding vehicle kills woman

Imphal, July 08 2025: In a clear case of hit and run, a 55-year old woman was killed after she was knocked down by a speeding four-wheeler.

The tragic incident occurred at Naranseina Thongkhong along Tiddim Road, Bishnupur district under Moirang police station at around 7.30 pm on July 7, 2025 .

Sources said that a four-wheeler vehicle speeding toward Imphal from Moirang side knocked down the woman pedestrian at Naranseina Thongkhong and sped away from the spot.

The woman identified as Shamurailatpam Manitombi (55) w/o Sh Shyam Sharma of Naranseina Makha Leikai was evacuated from the spot and rushed to RIMS Hospital.

However, the victim succumbed to the injuries last night and her body was deposited at RIMS morgue for post mortem.

Moirang police station has registered a case regarding the incident.

Search operations were being carried out at suspected places till the time of filing this report to seize the four-wheeler and apprehend its driver, said the sources.

On the other hand, the dead body of the victim has been handed over to family members after post mortem at RIMS morgue.
