Fraud sent to judicial custody

A person has been sent to judicial custody on the charge of issuing fake appointment letters and results of recruitment to several posts in the Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat.
The accused, who has been remanded to judicial custody by the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West, has been identified as Laishram Rocky.
While Rocky was sent to judicial custody till May 17, the Court of the CJM Imphal West released two other accused persons, Salam Premila Chanu and Khongbantabam Ulen Kumar on bail.
Laishram Rocky (40) hails from Palace Compound near Govindaji Temple.
Salam Premila Chanu (42) hails from Singjamei Chingamakha Kshetri Leikai.
Khongbantabam Ulen Kumar (42) hails from Lairikyengbam Leikai Mayai Leirak.
The three have been accused of issuing fake appointment letters and results for recruitment of one Supervisor, five MTS, two FAs, one LDC and one Accountant in the Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat.
They were produced before the Court by a team of Lamphel police station after the completion of police custody period along with a prayer for sending them to judicial custody.
On the other hand, the defense counsel of the accused persons filed a remand objection and prayed the Court for releasing them on bail.
In the Court of the CJM, Assistant Public Prosecutor submitted that Salam Premila in collusion with Laishram Rocky collected huge amounts of money from innocent persons, candidates who were seeking jobs with the intent to cheat them.
Further, K Ulen in collusion with Laishram Rocky printed Government notification results which are confidential in his computer shop, knowing it was illegal, said the APP.
The Court, after hearing the submission of APP and defense counsels, remanded Laishram Rocky to judicial custody till May 17, and also ordered the release of Salam Premila and K Ulen on bail.
