Obituary reference paid to departed MLAs

The eighth session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly commenced today with obituary references by the sitting Members of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Members cutting across party lines have expressed their deepest and profound sorrow over the demise of Longjam Ningthemjao Singh, former Member of the Manipur Legislative Assembly from Heingang Assembly Constituency; K Envey, former Member of the Manipur Legislative Assembly from Phungyar (ST) Assembly Constituency; Dr Md Maniruddin Sheikh, former Member of the Manipur Legislative Assembly from Lilong Assembly Constituency and AS Arthur, former Member of the Manipur Legislative Assembly from Ukhrul (ST) Assembly Constituency.
Speaker of the House Thokchom Satyabrata Singh moved a resolution expressing deep and profound sorrow over the demise of the former members.
The House unanimously adopted the resolution to condole their demise and observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
Chief Minister Y Khemchand, the leader of the House, initiated the obituary reference, which was followed by former Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Home Minister K Govindas.
Participating in the obituary reference, former Chief Minister O Ibobi also expressed his condolences.
K Meghachandra; Th Lokeshwar; Ram Muivah and Leishiyo Keishing also participated in the obituary reference and expressed deep sorrow over the demise of the former members.
