Imphal, September 02 2024:
Even as Kuki militants continued to carry out terror attacks using drones on Meitei settlements causing civilian casualties, the Federation of Haomee (FoH) has shot a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his attention on the Manipur crisis.
In the letter, the Federation of Haomee said the Prime Minister should give the charge of Unified Command to Chief Minister N Biren Singh to bring about an end to the crisis.
Secondly, it said all the MLAs who support the demand for Separate Administration must be punished.
Thirdly, the citizenships of all those who illegally entered Manipur from 1951 onwards should be cancelled, and the Government should Constitutionally provide protection to indigenous and religious places of Thangjing, Koubru Hill ranges and others.
Further, Manipur as a whole should be declared a Hill State, it said.
Khoupum valley, located in Noney district is 710 metres above sea level and is treated as a hill area whereas the Imphal valley, which is 790 metres above sea level, has not been recognised and treated as a hill area.
The Imphal valley in the heart of Manipur is located several metres higher than the Khoupum valley.
Considering the geographical features, the whole of the State should be declared as a Hill State, it said.
