Aid continues to pour in for flood affected people

Many continue to extend humanitarian aid to the people affected by the devastating flood which left a trail of destruction in many districts of the State.
Today, Meitei Eikhoi Punsinsi (MEIPUN), Whatsapp Group distributed relief materials to the people affected by the flood in different parts of Imphal West & Imphal East districts.
Members of MEIPUN also visited Nagaram and Laipham Khunou in Imphal East district and provided food items to the volunteers, personnel of Manipur Police and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) who have been working tirelessly to rescue people from affected areas.
As part of the visit, they also interacted with the members of Workers Union Manipur (WUM) and other women vendors who are camping in Khwairamband Keithel.

Food items were provided to the women camping in Khwairamband Keithel to encourage and motivate them during this difficult time.
Later, members of MEIPUN visited the relief camp opened in Akampat Ideal Girls College and distributed food items to the children staying there.
Members of MEIPUN including senior advisor Keke Wahengbam, Pangambam Rajendro, Bobo Khundrakpam, Suresh Khangembam, Khoimu, Joymati Irom, Sangita Khoirom, Roji Brahmacharimayum, Bijen Nongthombam, Leo Nameirakpam, Napolean Pheiroijam and Kenney Wahengbam took part in the visit.
Notably, the relief materials were provided with contributions from members of MEIPUN.
Moreover, the Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur (PLMPAM) and All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMWOVA) on Saturday distributed relief materials to the flood affected people of Namdunlong, Imphal East.
At the event, Namdunlong Youth Club president L Dangmei expressed his gratitude to AMWOVA and PLMPAM for their assistance in their time of need.
Similarly, the Laipham Khunou Flood Relief Committee on Sunday distributed relief items including essential food items to the flood affected people of Laipham Khunou.
In this regard, Committee member Ng Rakeshwor conveyed his gratitude to the State Government led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh for taking immediate actions to help the flood affected people of Laikham Khunou.
He also thanked the NDRF for the support and assured that the Committee will continue to provide similar assistance to the people.
Moreover, H Iboyaima, PRO of Thanga Assembly Constituency, has provided humanitarian assistance to Ahanthem Bishorjit, news contributor of NEWS 18 .
Social worker Thoudam Jeet also extended aid to Ahanthem Bishorjit, B Rakesh Sharma of Imphal Free Press and Oken Luwang of Image TV .
Continuing with its humanitarian services, the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Manipur has provided drinking water to people of Nambol, Sangakpham and other areas severely affected by the recent flood.
Meanwhile, the Naga Women Union (NWU) along with United Naga Council (UNC), All Naga Students' Association Manipur (ANSAM) and Rongmei Students' Organisation on Saturday visited the flood affected areas in and around Imphal city.
During the visit to some of the relief camps, the president of NWU and her team interacted with the displaced families and encouraged them to be strong and not to lose their faith in God as natural disasters can happen anytime.
The team provided basic relief materials to the victims, especially to those belonging to the Naga community.
The relief materials provided are nowhere near adequate to the scale of devastation the cyclone wrought but stated to be seen as a goodwill gesture and a show of solidarity to the displaced members of the Naga fraternity, with the hope and prayer that the situation will improve in the coming days, said the team.
The team urged the State and Central Governments to adequately provide all the necessary relief materials such as clean drinking water, food, toiletries, medicine, sanitary pads to the affected people especially women and children.
The team also expressed concern about the outbreak of water borne diseases in the aftermath of the flood and urged the relevant Departments to do the needful.
