Senior citizens from hills and valley gather on New Year's eve

As the tumultuous year draws to a close, senior citizens from both the hills and valley gathered together for a "love feast" at Chadong New Site Village in Kamjong district on New Year's Eve.
Held with the aim of bringing people on the path to peace, prosperity and reconciliation in the New Year, the feast was attended by old folks of the village and guests comprising mainly of senior citizens from Heingang Assembly Constituency.
At the event, the elderly folks put their heads together to find a way out of the "ethnic imbroglio" and chart a new course for the strife-torn people of Manipur.
This marks the first get-together of its kind where senior citizens from both the hills and the valley exchanged their ideas and thoughts to move ahead with confidence and optimism.
The special gathering at the village, which has been transformed into a tourist site due to the picturesque Mapithel Multi-Purpose Dam, was also highlighted by the exchange of valuable gifts between the hill and valley people.
The congregation stressed the importance of communal harmony, peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding among the diverse ethnic groups in the State.
Many senior citizens from nearby villages also participated in the event with positive inputs for a way forward in the New Year.
The meet concluded with a grand "love feast" filled with jubilation and merriment.
