Imphal, August 29:
With the people's agitation for the removal of AFSPA still continuing unabated, eighteen MLAs of the Congress (I) have submitted a written statement to the Congress high command demanding a change in the SPF leadership, disclosed a highly reliable source from within the SPF Govt. The source said that the Ministers in the statement besides accusing the SPF leadership of having completely failed in tackling the State's issue effectively said that the problems of the State have not been intimated effectively to the Central leaders by the leader of the SPF Govt.It also stated that the present unstable law and order condition in the State is the outcome of the weak policies of the SPF leader.
The written statement was submitted to the AICC high command in the first week of August.
With differences among the Ministers/MLAs of the ruling SPF Govt steadily gaining momentum in the backdrop of the people's agitation for the complete removal of AFSPA from the State, there is a high possibility of some changes in the SPF leadership once the current agitation comes to a meaningful end, said the source adding that AICC high command have taken the charges of the Ministers very seriously and efforts are on to soothe the discontented Ministers.
Meanwhile, some of the senior Cabinet Ministers of the SPF Govt have also expressed great dissatis- faction over the recent portfolio distribution as they claimed that the decision of the CM had been greatly influenced by some of the young Ministers in the SPF Govt.
