UG suspect shot dead, two bodies recovered

A suspected underground activist has been gunned down while two bodies have been recovered in different incident.
According to a source, one member of the central committee of the proscribed KCP-MC Lamyanba Khuman group was shot dead by a combined security forces during an encounter near Khuluimol village under Saikul Police Station of Senapati district at around noon today.
the encounter took place between a combined team of police and personnel of 43 Assam Rifles against a group of armed individuals suspected to belong to KCP-MC Lamyanba Khuman outfit.
The shoot-out reportedly took place at a spot known as Khuluimol, about 6 kms along the road leading to Thangal Cave under Sapermeina Police Station.
In the ensuing encounter, the suspected member of central committee of the UG group was killed while the rest managed to escape.
One M-16 Rifles, one Lethode gun, one AK-56 Rifles, two AK-47 Rifles, 37 live rounds of AK ammunition and one Chinese made hand grenade with detonator have been recovered during search of the site after the encounter.
Although the site of the encounter falls under the jurisdiction of Saikul Police Station, personnel from the nearby Sapermeina Police Station have picked up the body and deposited at the mortuary of RIMS.
There were two fatal bullet marks in stomach and left armpit.
Though identity of the slain UG has not yet been established, it is suspected that he may be one Naorem Kumar alias Samu alias Mani of Nilakuthi, a central committee member of the proscribed KCP-MC Lamyanba Khuman group.
Two found dead: One IRB Rifleman and a non-local man have been found dead at two different places in Imphal West district this morning.
Rifleman Sadokpam Romanta alias Ingobi (34) was found dead at Sadokpam under Lamphel PS.
He reportedly left home last morning.
Originally, Romanta belonged to Ghari.
He left his native village after his wife Sangita Devi was found hung to dead inside their house on Jan 22 last year following which his house was dismantled by the local people and ousted from the locality.
On the other hand, a non-local labourer was found dead inside Capitol Project which is under construction.
The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Bareik (22) of Sonitpur district, Assam.
He was found dead at his bed this morning.
