PHSC building inaugurated

The newly building of the PHSC of Khurai Heinoumakhong constructed by the Manipur Development Society under the National Rural Health Mission was inaugurated by MLA Ng Bijoy today.
MLA Dr Ng Bijoy graced the inauguration function as chief guest.
Director, State Family Welfare Services Dr L Joykumar was the president of the function.
Additional Director, Family Welfare Services Dr Gulapi, Chief Medical Officer, Imphal East Dr Momota Mukherjee who is also the Director of District Health Mission Society and Pradhan Y Jiten also attended the function.
The inauguration was held at the premises of Netaji Memorial Club, Kongpal Thongkhong.
Speaking in the occasion, MLA Dr Ng Bijoy said that the PHSC which tagged the name of Khurai Heinoumakhong will give benefits not only to the people of Khurai Heinoumakhong but also to the people of Khurai Laishram Leikai, Thongam Leikai and Sajor Leikai.
Dr L Joykumar urged the people of the areas to take the various opportunities given through the PHSC.
He said that Ante-natal checkup is very important for the pregnant mothers.
Delivery must be made in health centres and hospitals only to ensure safe delivery.
Mortality rate of mother during delivery of India is 400 in every 1 lakh while Manipur has 200 in every 1 lakh.
This can be reduced further by regular ante-natal checkup.
In a speech, Dr Gulapi said that there must be a PHSC for every 5,000 persons in the valley area and 3,000 in hill area.
The PHSC will have two ANM, one male health worker and one helper.
There will be no doctor in the centre.
However there is provision for doctors from CHCs and PHCs to visit the PHSCs once in a month, he said.
