Career awareness, 'meet the commander' programme held

Assam Rifles Somsai unit launched an initiative in Alungtang, Ukhrul district on Friday, encouraging village youth to consider a career with the Indian Armed Forces.
In a release, PRO IGAR (South) informed that the endeavour was designed to inspire young minds towards a life of service and honour, highlighting the Indian armed forces as a path offering both challenge and fulfilment.
Participants numbering 22 local youths learnt about career prospects within the military, which not only provide a dignified standing in society but also contribute directly to national security.
Officials from Assam Rifles delivered detailed Sessions on opportunities within the officer cadre as well as Agniveer scheme, focusing on the many benefits of service, including job security, assured salary, unparalleled skills training and an adventurous way of life.
Particular emphasis was placed on the vital qualities of discipline, leadership and comprehensive training necessary to lead a rewarding life in the Armed Forces, said the PRO.
Meanwhile, commemorating the valour and sacrifices of the Indian armed forces on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Assam Rifles organised an event titled 'A Day with Company Commander' in Thoubal district.
According to PRO IGAR (South), the programme was designed to provide the younger generation with a glimpse of essential life lessons, discipline, harmony, camaraderie, valour and'selfless service to the nation.
The day's proceedings featured a motivational interactive session delivered by Assam Rifles officials, who recounted the history of bravery and sacrifice exhibited by soldiers during the 1999 Kargil War.
The participants were given a tour of the camp, visited barracks, cookhouses and the Sarv Dharm Sthal, followed by display of weapons showcasing variety of military armaments, and participative session involving rope climbing and physical training.
The event conducted in coordination with JCRE Skill Solutions, a private, institute specialising in youth skill development, was attended by 47 students of the institute.
