Former MLA BD Behring passes away

Imphal, June 27 2025: Former MLA and Rajya Sabha Member BD Behring passed away at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi early this morning.

BD Behring was first elected to the Manipur Legislative Assembly in 1990 from Chandel Assembly segment.

He was re-elected to the State Assembly from the same Assembly segment in 2000.Additionally, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Manipur on April 10, 1990 but resigned immediately without completing his term which was supposed to end on April 9, 1996 .

Behring resided at Khambathel village near Sugnu.

Meanwhile, the Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM) has condoled the demise of BD Behring.

Bd Behring was a prominent tribal leader who served the people of Manipur with steadfast commitment and dedication.

His contributions to the upliftment and welfare of the tribal communities and the State of Manipur will always be remembered with profound respect and gratitude.

His passing is an irreparable loss, and the void he leaves behind can never be filled, said a press release issued by TYCM.

The TYCM has also extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and loved ones.

"We join the people of Manipur in mourning the loss of a visionary leader.

May his soul rest in eternal peace", it added.
