Imphal, August 26 2025: The office premise of the Directorate of Settlement & Land Records (DSLR) at Lamphelpat have been affected by severe waterlogging as a result of which attendance has remained minimal with only a few officials able to report for duty.

In turn, this has caused delays in the issuance of pattas, which is necessary to obtain documents such as OBC and domicile certificate and getting water connections.

Affected citizens have urged the Directorate to take necessary action and further sought the intervention of Governor Ajay kumar Bhalla as the State is currently under President's Rule.

Meanwhile, it has come to light that the S&SO-I of DSLR had written to the Secretary of Land Resources on April 4, 2025 seeking allocation of rooms on the first and second floor of New Secretariat, Western Block to set up the office of the Directorate as its current office premises are subjected to frequent flooding.

Moreover a written communication highlighting the situation of the office, which read as, 'Sir, the DSLR office premises have been affected by severe waterlogging, as a result of which attendance has remained minimal with only a few officials able to report for duty'.

However, the department concerned is yet to act on the request to relocate the office or take up any other measures.
