Imphal, October 25 2025:
The Union for Treatment and Rehabilitation of Users for Social Transformation (U-TRUST) has announced that it will organize a 45-day free detoxification and de-addiction camp for 193 drug users from underprivileged families.
Enrolment for the camp began today, and the 45-day period will be calculated individually for each patient, starting from their admission date.
Speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club today, U-TRUST president Sagolsem Herojit said that the initiative will be organised in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department and 55 registered private drug rehabilitation centres.
He said that eligible drug users can start enrolling at drug rehabilitation centres which are under U-TRUST from today onwards.

He thanked the Department of Social Welfare for releasing Rs 17,37,000 on October 22 to organize the drug detoxification camp.
Herojit added that a 30 bedded rehabilitation centre will provide treatment to three such patients while a 50 bedded centre will provide treatment to five such patients during the camp.
Saying that Rs 9000 will be supported by the Government while Rs 3000 will be borne by the respective Trust centres for each patient in the collaborative detoxification camp, he added that they will also form an inspection committee to oversee the treatment process during the camp as well as to encourage the service providers and the patients.
He added that unethical and illegal activities of some private drug rehabilitation centres such as forcefully picking up drug users for monetary gains will only lead to treatment failure.
Herojit reasoned that approaching drug use as a public health concern rather than a moral or criminal issue can lead to more effective solution.
