Imphal, April 24 2026:
The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has once again asked the Government of India for immediate cessation of its proxy war.
Together with Nambol Apunba Meira Paibi Lup, Oinam Apunba Meira Paibi and several local clubs, AMUCO and four other fraternal organisations namely; MSF, AMAWOVA, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur and COHR took out a torch rally from Oinam Playground to Nambol tonight.
Speaking to the media, AMUCO president Sanjoy Sorokhaibam called upon one and all to come out and fight collectively to save Manipur for future generations.
It is a matter of grave concern that the Government of India has been acting deaf and mute to the people's cry for justice, he said.
Saying that people cannot keep any faith in the Government of India, the AMUCO president demanded an immediate end to the proxy war being allegedly waged by the Government of India in Manipur.
He also condemned the Government of India for allegedly engineering widespread violence and killings across Manipur for the past many years.
Saying that the survival of Manipur is under serious threats, Sanjoy appealed to one and all to share the responsibility of protecting Manipur.
The State's economy has been hit hard by the continued violence and oppression.
As a result, the socio-economic condition of the people has plummeted, he said.
Asserting that Manipur cannot be saved without a strong, collective and sustained strategy, the AMUCO president appealed to one and all to come out to the streets and join the struggle.
"We have been reduced to the status of homeless, beggars.
The State Assembly exists only for name's sake.
The Assembly has abdicated its duties and responsibilities", he said.
Decrying that the State Government has been watching silently when innocent people are shot dead by Central forces, Sanjoy appealed to the Government employees to join the ongoing mass movement.
He also asked personnel of the State force who failed to protect the State miserably to stop shooting and oppressing civilians.
He added that the people's protest will get intensified more and more until the Government of India pays heed to the people's voice and takes up necessary action.
