State observes International Day of Yoga

Manipur observed the International Day of Yoga under the theme 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health' today.
Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla attended the Statelevel observance of the Yoga Day at the Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium, where over 900 participants, including students, officials, Yoga enthusiasts, security personnel, and the general public took part.
The Governor led the participants in performing Yoga asanas, encouraging everyone to incorporate yoga into their daily routine.
The Yoga Day was also observed at the Raj Bhavan, Imphal, where the Governor led the officials and staff in a Yoga session.
Meanwhile, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) National executive member V Bhagaiah has stated that Yoga is the path to peace in today's troubled world.
He made the statement at the 11th International Day of Yoga celebration held at Bhaskar Prabha, Konjeng Leikai, today.
The event was jointly organised by Kreeda Bharati Manipur and the College Development Council of Manipur University under the theme "Yoga for One Earth, One Health" .
Delivering a keynote address, Bhagaiah emphasized that Yoga is much more than physical exercise - it is a powerful spiritual and societal tool.
Yoga unites people, calms anger, brings peace of mind, purifies the body, and spreads love and harmony, he said.
He also said that Yoga offers a simple, ancient, and effective means to restore peace in a world plagued by wars and unrest.
He paid tribute to Sage Patanjali, hailing him as a visionary who laid the foundation for a practice that transcends time and geography.
The event featured demonstrations of five key Yoga asanas, followed by mass participation, promoting Yoga as a daily practice for overall well-being.
The celebration drew around 500 participants from all walks of life, including students, teachers and Yoga enthusiasts, among others.
Bhagaiah also highlighted the global significance of the occasion, noting that more than 170 countries now observe International Yoga Day, reflecting Yoga's growing universal relevance.
The programme concluded with a collective meditation, reinforcing the message that Yoga is not merely a discipline but a transformative way of life.
